Meet the Dentists

Dr. Jim Nichols

Dr. Jim Nichols has a special interest in complex restorative dentistry, and he truly enjoys enhancing smiles through esthetic and cosmetic dentistry. He is known for his special compassion and care for patients who have extreme anxiety about visiting the dentist. Dr. Nichols averages nearly 100 hours per year of continuing education and has completed a series of courses studying under some of the nation’s most highly respected dentists. Through these courses and seminars, Dr. Nichols acquires the expertise and skill it takes to offer his patients state-of-the art dental treatments that utilize the most advanced technology.

Dr. Nichols moved a lot while growing up, but he graduated from Lafayette High School and fell in love with the people of Lafayette! He often says, “This is the best place I’ve ever lived!” He graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge and from the LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He is married to Carmen Schexnailder Nichols, from Arnaudville, LA, and they have one daughter, Natalie, who is a registered nurse working in Birmingham, Alabama.

When not in the office, Dr. Nichols enjoys SEC football and basketball, reading, and drinking good coffee. He is passionate about providing dental care for the indigenous population of Chiapas, Mexico, while serving under full-time missionaries Russell & Charlotte Linscombe with Mexico Outreach.

Dr. David Granberry

Dr. Granberry has been in private practice since graduating from LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. He is a native of Lafayette, but first chose to develop his career in the rural setting of Kaplan, Louisiana, where he practiced for many years.

Throughout the years, Dr. Granberry has added to his expertise with Continuing Education opportunities all over the country. Currently his area of concentration is CAD/CAM dental restorations. This “computer assisted designing and milling” of dental crowns and fillings has fascinated him for over a decade.

Dr. Granberry progresses along with this exciting technology. He especially loves restoring a broken tooth in one visit and then seeing the smile on the patient’s face.

Dr. Granberry has been married to Betty Jean Whitaker from Baton Rouge for 38 years and they have two married children and four grandchildren. The family keeps him busy, but in his free time he loves to hunt, fish, play golf and even needlepoint. Another favorite pastime is enjoying the tranquility at Orange Beach, Alabama.
